Licensing

Licensing depends on which (operating) systems are used.

The following elements have to be considered regarding licensing:

  • Operating system
  • Applications like Word as Cloud Component
  • Cloud Components Framework

Licensing Operating System

1.) Windows 2008 and Terminal Server

When using a Windows server operating system licensing is based on the licensing conditions of Remote Desktop Services.
Server AND Remote Desktop CALs have to be licensed.

When using the External Connector the user amount is not limited.
The External Connector is required for Server AND Remote Desktop.

2.) Alternative Terminal Server Solutions

There are lower priced alternatives for Terminal Server. They work on server systems as well as on Windows 7.
The advantage is that there are no CALs required when using e.g. Windows 2008 Web Edition or Windows 7.

Licensing Applications (Cloud Components)

Licensing of Cloud Components is based on the license conditions for the used application.
Therefore licensing of Word (as Cloud Component) is based on the licensing conditions of Remote Desktop Services.

exxWeb-it is licensed per concurrent user sessions (connections).
